Our Daily Bread

Exodus 16:9-21; Matthew 6:25-33

The cartoon showed a car speeding along a desert highway. Up ahead a group of people stood by the shoulder, ready to cross the road. The woman says to the man, "Maybe we should ask these people for directions."

I thought, "Oh yeah, this is about how a man never stops to ask for help, no matter how lost he might be." Like, ha ha.

Then I looked again. The group of pedestrians stretched back and back as far as the eye could see, towards the distant horizon. Front and center, toes to the freeway's edge, stood Moses with a big walking stick in one hand and the Ten Commandments in the other.

So the real joke in this cartoon was: Of all the people on earth to ask directions from, these guys lurk at the bottom of the list! They wandered in the desert for 40 years exactly because they were too stubborn to ask for and follow God's directions to the Promised Land!!!

Okay... So that sets up this week's sermon. It really does get better. For Moses and the Israelites, and for you the listener.

Listen to the GODcast!
